“Development of the Lithuanian Nuclear Early Warning System“
The project is funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism Programme
“Environment, Energy, Climate Change” 2014-2021
Objectives
After implementation of this project:
- at least 197 new modern sirens will be purchased and the public warning and information system will be upgraded in 17 municipalities;
- a joint civil protection exercise will be organised to simulate the situation in the event of an accident at a nuclear power plant: evacuation of the population, sanitation, dosimetry control, etc.;
- the update of the Lithuanian emergency preparedness website Lt72.lt, modernising it and making it accessible to different population groups;
- three exercise planning conferences will be organised;
- the development of methodological training material for human safety teachers and students in educational institutions;
- training films on emergency preparedness and response to an accident at the Belarusian nuclear power plant and the actions of the population in the event of an accident.
